Founded in 2021 by Lars Broddesson (ex-Marduk, Funeral Mist, ex-Nordjevel, and many more) HILD is an unwavering outlet of raw energy and stirring, unbinding force, deeply steeped in Nordic Myth and Mystery. The band brings a bastard blend of Thrash Metal, Black Metal and a good dose of Hardcore and Crust. The main theme is battle, strife, strength and self-empowering, and facing your fate with a fearless heart.

What was initially a solo project soon became a full band as the public response was just too good not to take it further. Reborn as a full band the core grew ever stronger and HILD has since proven to be one truly fierce and celebrated live act.
Their debut album ”ValFreiya” (Odium Records) hit the world on Oct 7th, 2022 with its capture of spontaneous, creative spark and ”No prisoners”-attitude. The album stands out by having no song longer than 2:30 and no song taking longer than 9 hours from the initial idea to the finalized product. Each song honors and channels a specific Valkyrie and their timeless traits.

May 2024 sees the release of “The Slayeress”, a three-song EP manifesting their position as a force to be taken seriously in the extreme music world. The EP´s title is an obvious wink to Slayer, but ultimately concerns merging with the dark side of the feminine divine and to stand up for yourself, not letting false prophets restrain you and your ways.

As of August 2024 the first singles from HILD´s second full-length “Thrash på Svenska” start pouring out.
“Thrash in Swedish” is a blatant theft from (but more than anything a salute to) one of Sweden´s best and most iconic records of all time: Jan Johansson´s “jazz på svenska”. Where Jan mainly interprets old folksongs, HILD´s album consists of original material. Nevertheless, just as Jan, they have made sure to grasp the folkish melancholy, the longing and the lost times that sing in our landscapes. They have allowed themselves a more melodic and sad approach to their musical art and mixed it with what is its core: Raw, violent energy and stirring, unbinding force! Only this time in Swedish. Released Oct 4th 2024, the album received some great underground response including several “album of the year”-claims and statements like “perfect album”.

On the national day of Sweden, June 6th, 2025 the band lets out a double single called “Jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden. Translating as “I want to live, I want to die in the North” the title is taken from the iconic finishing phrase from the Swedish national anthem. The release features a unique interpretation of the anthem together with Ida Redig, a famed Swedish pop star. Accompanying the song is a wild interpretation of an old Swedish folksong, the predecessor to the national anthem “Så rider jag mig”. Roughly translating as “Thus I ride on” the song is an old medieval ballad that HILD has completely ravaged and made their own.

HILD aims to imbue you with the feeling of violent rapture and ecstatic rush that only certain high-energy extreme music can conjure; that primal, animal connection when you feel absolutely awesome, yet want to destroy everything around you in total abandon. Like an Ulvhedin, knowing you could die any second and not give a damn about it.
